Phobias.

It is a survival mechanism that allows you to make an appraisal of what things may be threatening to you and to take appropriate action. If a fear is exaggerated so that it becomes out of proportion to the actual level of threat, you may have developed a phobia. Many people with phobias know, at a conscious level, that their fear is irrational but feel powerless to control it. People can develop a fear to almost anything, but common phobias include spiders, wasps, dogs, cats, flying, enclosed spaces and many others.

If you suffer from any kind of phobia hypnotherapy can help.
